29th Sept 07- Tulip Festival at Bowral

These are my long overdue photos! Went to the Southern Highlands which is a 3 hour train ride away and visited a town called Bowral where they had the Tulip Festival. It was a simple yet beautiful town which took pride in their annual Tulip Festival. Some houses even open their gardens to let visitors admire their gardens! Silly us forgot that it would be colder up in the highlands so we each wore a thin jacket and ended up freezing in the cold up there! Nevertheless, it was a good day away from our work and the three of us really had good soild fun entertaining ourselves throughout the day! haha.

On our way to Bowral...as usual, the kia-su me plans our route for the day!

The simple rustic town of Bowral

The entire town unites and puts in the effort to present the best of Bowral! They even decorate the dustbin with tulip prints... haha.
The tulips were everywhere!! Never saw soooo many flowers at the same place before!

The natural beauties posing with the beautiful nature

Basking in the sun because it was so so cold and windy!

The church and schools organised fairs and sold lotsa hand-made crafts and local produce. The kids enjoyed the face painting!

Our lunch at Elephant Boy Cafe which had a nice cosy ambience and good food! Their pies had huge juicy chucks of meat in them and the vege soup was sweet and refreshing.

Stopped by a famous pastry shop there and had our dessert! I had my favourite pecan pie which was the best I ever tasted! It was not too sweet like the other pecan pies that I have tried before, the pecans were huge and nicely roasted, pastry was thin and of the right texture- Ohhh.. it was heavenly! Elain had her 'ji pu sai' (one piece of shit) which was made of caramel I think. We found it really funny and cute! It just needed some flies around...haha. All in all, we were very happy with our sweet indulgence!

Then we popped by Bradmann Oval which is a landmark of Bowral as the famous Australian baseballer came from Bowral. We were so overwhelmed by the huge patch of clean green grass that we went ga-ga and started to take photos of our shadows and in funny positions. This is what happens when we Singaporeans are deprived of such huge open space..we simply go wild!!! muhahaha.
